Product Description

The Day of Rest was commissioned for the Beth Abraham Youth Chorale, Dayton, Ohio, and its director, Hazzan Jerome B. Kopmar, by Dr. and Mrs. Michael Jaffe in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Jaffe, Mrs. Albert Abrams, and in memory of Mr. Albert Abrams. It is a Sabbath service suitable for either concert or liturgical use.

Lcha dodi likrat kala, pnë shabat nkabla.
Mikdash melech ir mlucha, kumi tzi mitoch hahªfecha,
rav lach shevet bëmek habacha, vhu yachªmol alayich chemla.

Boi vshalom ateret bala, gam bsimcha uvtzahôla,
toch Amunei am sgula, boi chala, boi chala.

Come, my Beloved, to greet the bride; let us welcome the Sabbath.
Sanctuary of the King, royal city, arise, go forth from the ruins;
too long have you dwelt in the valley of tears; He will show you abounding mercy.

 Come in peace, O crown of your husband, in joy and in jubilation;
amidst the faithful of the treasured people, come O bride, come O bride.
