Product Description

Gottschalk wrote the Marche Des Gibaros in 1857. It is a "patrol" march in that it is 
based on repetition of thematic material, starting softly, building to a big climax
with a change of key, and subsiding softly into the sunset. Gibaros are Puerto Rican peasants,
and this melody with its complex rhythms is an original folk song.
GIbaros transcribes well from the original piano composition to a string quartet.
