This beautiful setting of Amazing Grace (for string quintet) progressively builds from an initial feeling of intense inward amazement of God's grace 'that saved a wretch like me' to a final bright declaration of 'When we've been there 10,000 years, bright shining as the sun, there's no less days...' with a crescendoing transition to C major which sounds emphatically as though the bright skies have opened for us to look up and see heaven itself. This is a highly emotional piece that greatly enhances this timeless music and its sacred message. Viola and bass guitar parts are provided as alternates for violin 3, and cello 2, respectively. This piece is well-suited for church, school, and community ensembles.
