Product Description
This arrangement of "Ye Banks and Braes O Bonnie Doon" by Percy Grainger is based on his own arrangement for wind band, first published in 1936. His original setting of the work for a chorus of womens unison voices, accompanied by mens voices, whistlers, and harmonium or organ at will was written in 1903. It is a simple melody based on a poem by Scottish poet Robert Burns, The Banks of Doon, written in 1793. A small group of 6 players can play this arrangement effectively: 4 B-flat Clarinets, Alto Clarinet, and Bass Clarinet. However, many optional parts have been included (as Grainger would have liked!) and can supplement or replace the instruments in the core ensemble as desired, including:
E-Flat Clarinet (for Clarinet 1)
Basset Horn/Bass Clarinet 2 (for Alto Clarinet)
Contrabass Clarinet/Contralto Clarinet/String Bass (with Bass Clarinet)
