Product Description

Aan original retro-style dance track titled 'A Music Assignment' sung by singer HanHan.

The song is about a music ensemble squabbling over how to do a music assignment right but eventually ends up doing better than they had initially envisioned. The 2 main characters are represented by the 2 synthesizers; one of which is a bit of a Diva and loves to play solo parts and the other, a shy rhythm player who likes to stay out of the spotlight in fear of making mistakes. The vocalist is the narrator of the story and the band leader is the bassist. The other instruments play the supporting role.

The story begins with the iPhone notification chime when the ensemble receives a notification for a new gig. The solo synthesizer almost immediately launches into some solo riffs to start off the song. The rhythm synthesizer keeps quiet only until the chorus where it plays a repeating motif as a support role. The solo synth gets a little annoyed at the rhythm synth's nonchalance and does more riffs to try to, in his opinion, make the song better. The rhythm synth ignores him and continues just playing the same motif with occasional embellishments in fear of straying into wrong notes.

The solo synth loses it and goes into a solo, expressing his displeasure at his partner's indifference to music making. The bassist, having heard enough of their squabble, jumps in and lectures the both of them about finding the balance between showmanship and ensemble playing. This is represented in the form of a short slap bass solo. The group quietens down for a moment of contemplation as they think about how to better their song and the 2 synths think about how to reconcile their differences.

Fast forward to the day of the performance, the iPhone chimes again, reminding them of the gig on the day. The group performs spectacularly, everyones parts interlocking perfectly but yet still leaving room for individuality. The story ends on a high with the successful gig and the one of the synth texts the other for a future collaboration.
